Libya’s Sirte Oil Smashes 20-Year Production Record, Hits 110,000 Barrels Daily

Sirte Oil Company has achieved a historic milestone, ramping up daily crude oil production to 110,000 barrels—the highest level the company has seen in more than two decades. This surge represents a dramatic recovery for Libya’s energy sector as the country continues its post-conflict reconstruction efforts.

Company Chairman Mustafa Hammad revealed that production jumped from 102,000 barrels per day at the beginning of the fiscal year to the current record-breaking 110,000 barrels by the end of July 2025. The achievement was announced during the company’s annual technical meeting at its Marsa el Brega headquarters, where engineers and senior officials gathered to evaluate operational performance.

The company isn’t stopping there. Hammad announced ambitious plans to push production even higher, targeting 126,000 barrels per day by December 2025, pending budget approval for critical drilling and maintenance projects. The surge comes from technical advances including new production fields, enhanced reservoir development, and successful horizontal drilling using cutting-edge technology.

The breakthrough signals Libya’s oil sector is finding its footing again after years of instability, with companies like Sirte leading the charge toward operational stability and long-term investment planning.
