Algeria and Libya Strengthen Energy Ties with Multiple Partnership Agreements
Algerian state oil giant Sonatrach has signed several memorandums of understanding with Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) to enhance cooperation across petroleum operations, training, and technical services. The agreements signal strengthening ties between the two North African energy producers as they seek to leverage each other’s expertise and expand their regional presence.
The collaboration spans multiple sectors, with the National Company of Geophysics partnering with the North African Geophysical Exploration Company on exploration activities. Additionally, Sonatrach’s National Well Services Company will work with NOC subsidiary Jowfe Oil Technology to provide petroleum services across Algeria, Libya, and international markets.
A third agreement focuses on joint laboratory work and analysis between Sonatrach’s Exploration and Production Laboratories Division and the Petroleum Research Center, while a fourth MoU emphasizes training and knowledge transfer across all oil and gas industry fields. Sonatrach emphasized that these agreements demonstrate the company’s commitment to developing strategic and sustainable partnerships with Libyan counterparts.
