Bourbon Lands Five-Year Vessel Contract with Eni Congo

French maritime services provider Bourbon has secured a strategic five-year contract with Eni Congo to supply six next-generation crew vessels for operations at Italian energy giant Eni’s offshore Congo fields.

The agreement covers charter of six new S200X-G2 units scheduled for progressive commissioning between June and December 2026, with temporary vessels mobilized to ensure operational continuity from contract start. The new 20-meter vessels feature enhanced fuel efficiency with estimated 20% savings compared to previous generations through optimized hydrodynamic design and integrated energy performance monitoring systems.

Each vessel accommodates 30 passengers with enhanced comfort, 25 square meters of foredeck space for small cargo, and redesigned navigation bridges with improved visibility for pilots. The fleet will support Eni’s two floating liquefied natural gas units offshore Congo, including the Congo LNG project in Marine XII block.

The Congo LNG project began exporting natural gas in February 2024 with the FLNG Tango unit (0.6 million tons per annum capacity), currently producing 1 billion cubic meters annually from the Nenè and Litchendjili fields. A second phase featuring another FLNG unit under construction is scheduled for end-2025 startup, targeting 4.5 billion cubic meters annual production.
