Technip Energies Lands Massive $584 Million FLNG Contract in Africa

French engineering giant Technip Energies has secured a major floating liquefied natural gas contract in Africa worth between €250 million and €500 million (approximately $292 million to $584 million), the company announced today.

While the client and exact location remain confidential, this “large” contract designation reflects significant contributions to Technip Energies’ financial performance and demonstrates growing industry confidence in FLNG solutions across the continent.

The contract will see Technip Energies provide comprehensive FLNG services, utilizing offshore LNG processing units designed to operate above stranded gas wells. This technology makes remote gas fields economically viable while offering strategic advantages over traditional onshore LNG plants, including reduced pipeline infrastructure and lower environmental impact through modular, relocatable facilities.

CEO Arnaud Pieton emphasized the contract’s importance in expanding the company’s global LNG portfolio, particularly as Africa accelerates its energy transition initiatives.
