Italian Technology Boosts Zohr Field Production by 115 Million Cubic Feet Daily
The offshore drilling rig Saipem 10000 has successfully completed advanced drilling operations at Egypt’s Zohr gas field, adding substantial production capacity through cutting-edge deepwater technology. The rig finished sidetrack drilling at the Zohr-6 well, contributing approximately 60 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to current output levels.
Following completion of the Zohr-6 operations, the Italian rig proceeded to begin drilling at the Zohr-13 well, where engineering studies predict an additional 55 million cubic feet per day of natural gas production. The combined operations represent a significant boost to Egypt’s domestic energy production capabilities.
The successful drilling campaign highlights the ongoing collaboration between Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mining Resources and Italian operator Eni through its subsidiary. The partnership leverages global deepwater technologies to accelerate field development and maximize production from the Mediterranean offshore reserves.
This progress supports the Egyptian government’s commitment to maximizing domestic petroleum production while ensuring energy security and sustainable resource management. The advanced drilling techniques employed at Zohr demonstrate the potential for continued expansion of Egypt’s offshore energy assets.
