NIGERIA-MOROCCO PIPELINE MILESTONE: $25B PROJECT ADVANCES WITH COMPLETED STUDIES
Morocco’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development has announced that feasibility and preliminary engineering studies for the ambitious Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline have been completed, marking a significant milestone for the $25 billion project.
Addressing Morocco’s House of Councilors, Leila Benali, Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, revealed that participating countries have determined the optimal route for the pipeline and approved both a host country agreement and intergovernmental agreement.
Plans are underway to establish a joint special-purpose company between Morocco and Nigeria to manage project implementation, with the final investment decision expected by the end of 2025.
The massive pipeline will span approximately 6,000km, delivering 15 to 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas across 13 West African countries before eventually connecting to European markets.
